Yosemite National Park January 2008
Winter time is a wonderful time to visit Yosemite. Yes, most of the trails to the many water falls are closed and the road to Toualome Meadows is always closed in the winter time but the crowds are sparse though concentrated to the lower valley. The last few years there has been construction and the normal routes for the roads are often changed. But still the serene quiet of the winter months porvide a wonderful setting for photographs. The winter snow usually adds to the beautiful contrast of the granite walls. The water falls flow less in the month of January and early February but usually by the end of February the weather begins to warm and the falls start the spring flow. However they flow with much greater volume in March, April, and May.
This photograph was taken early morning at a very popular spot for tourists and photographers. Usually accessible by road we had to hike this January due to underground voltage wire construction and the road was closed to auto traffic. This photograph is a panorama consisting of 15 original images. The finished image is equal to the ultra high resolution (UHR) of a 65 megabyte file.
I hope you enjoy the pictures. If you would like a print of any of these photographs please contact me at alvance@charter.net. All images on my site are for sale.
